Nutella Cakes

Image from: http://www.madbaker.net/2006/08/mad-about-nutella-cake/

So for today, it's all about Nutella Cakes!
I've tried baking them twice and it's rather easy and fast.
The recipe I used is from "34 Insanely Simple Two-Ingredient Recipes!"
Link here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/34-insanely-simple-two-ingredient-recipes . Do check it out, it's really interesting, fun and easy!

Nutella Cake

4 Eggs
239g of Nutella

1)  Weigh out 239g of Nutella which is about 1 small tub of Nutella
2) Crack 4 eggs into a bowl and whisk it on high till it increases till 3 times the volume.
3) Microwave Nutella for about 20 seconds
4) Pour 1/3 of egg into Nutella and stir in a clockwise direction throughout.
5) Add the egg in part by part till all egg is mixed in with no streaks
6) Pour into pan and put it to bake for 20 mins (350F)
7) Leave cake to cool and Enjoy!

Picture Tutorial Below!

Weigh out 239g of Nutella!

 Use 4 Eggs

Whisk Eggs at high speed! You'll see bubbles forming
Whisk eggs till volume of eggs triples. See the difference?

Eggs should be foamy and light.

Pour eggs into microwaved Nutella in 3 parts.

Mix it well, make sure no streaks of eggs. It should not look like that!

Pour mixture into pan. Remember to line the pan with parchment paper! The cake tends to stick!

TIP! Cover the pan with aluminum foil to prevent the top from burning!

Hope this helps. Try it out and let me know how your cake turned out!

New Year's Eve!

It's New Year's Eve!

I bet many of you are getting ready to head out this New Year's Eve for a smashing good time whereever you're visitng. For those who are hosting parties or having a stay-home new year's eve like me, here's my reccomendation on food and drinks!

I personally love seafood so today's reccomendation is on Crab Beehoon!

This is a 50 dollar Sri Lankan Crab and it was totally worth the price.
In comparison to my hand thats how huge the crab actually is. The whole body is the size of my palm.

I  had 3/4 of the crab while my parents had the other quarter and the beehoon.
The beehoon come for free with the purchase of the crab.
This is actually one of their signature dishes.

You can have such a delicious Crab Beehoon at Master Crab Seafood Restaurant Pte Ltd !
They have various outlets, the one I visited was at Blk 19, #01-299 , Ghim Moh Road , Singapore 270019 . Tel: 63141868

The other outlets are as follows :

Blk 108, #01-01, Punggol Field,
Singapore 820108.
Tel: 64258079

Blk 277 C #01-13, Compassvale Link,
Singapore 544277.
Tel: 67649487

Blk 475, #01-31, Choa Chu Kang Ave 3,
Singapore 680475
Tel: 67649487

So if you're planning to have some today, do go early or make reservations early! Once they run out of Crabs no more Crab beehoons on a whole!

Now to snacks and drinks!

Here's Pringles New Packaging for the upcoming Chinese New Year and also, a new product in supermarkets, Taiwan Fruit Beer!

I'm not a beer lover and I did thoroughly enjoy this beer. It doesn't have a really strong beer taste sort of like a diluted beer with a tinge of grape.

Do check out and try out all in this post and tweet @rachwongz as usual!

Marmalade Pantry

Hi guys!

A few weeks ago, Joy, Kar, Desh & I visited the Marmalade Pantry at Ion Orchard for dinner.

They were having a special promotion of 1 for 1 main courses, every monday from 6 - 10pm.
Here's a little peak at their menu!

So Desh & Joy both got the Crabmeat Linguini ($24)
They both agreed that there was slightly too much pine nuts.
I tried a little of it and I must say, it taste very much like an Asian seafood dish.

Kar & I , on the other hand, got the spaghetti Carbonara ( $24 )
It was really creamy, rich and good! I'm not a fan of egg yolks and was really happy that the egg yolk was hard boiled so I could pass it on to someone else to eat it.

The portions were just little too much with Desh and I leaving a mouth or two worth of pasta behind as our tummy couldn't take anymore food! It was a really good meal that we had to walk off after. We wanted to try their pastries and desserts but were too full to!

In total, the bill amounted to $14.20 per person. No drinks, desserts or side dishes were ordered.
A tip if you're intending to visit The Marmalade pantry is to make a reservation as there was quite a queue when we arrived! The queue only started to die down after 9pm.

So as always, tweet me @rachwongz or leave a comment if you're intended to visit or visited the Marmalade Pantry and share with me your experience!

Year End Festivities!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

How have your holidays been? Mine has been crazily packed! Juggling between school and work but I'll never be too busy to enjoy the festive and the yummy food that come along with it.

I've had 3 Christmas parties so far and one more to come this Saturday.
Among all 3 Christmas parties, 2 of the parties main course were ordered and delivered.
So for this post I'll share mainly on food that can be ordered for the festive season!

So first up! KFC! It's quite unhealthy but it's the holidays so indulge alittle.
I do suggest ordering online as the booking/order fee is slightly cheaper and it's much more clear cut.
KFC Delivery  's web page is fairly simple and the sign up and info input is really easy.
Do check out their various packages and promotions!

We ordered kfc on the 22nd & 24th. The delivery was fast and the food was still hot and crispy!
KFC will be KFC, finger licking good!

Next up, it's Pizza hut!
As always Pizza Hut has special festive pizzas and deals. Similar to KFC their website is easy to maneuver. Their Special Double sensation festive Pizza is not bad with turkey ham! Without fail, we got the classic Hawaiian too.
I ordered Pizza hut on the 22nd and it arrived close to 10 minutes early!

Thirdly I have Sakae Sushi!
They are currently having a special Happy or Starry tray for the holiday period and the sushi was fresh and delivered within the first 10 mins of the proposed time frame on the eve of Christmas!

That's all I have tried for food deliveries and here are some tips!
  1. Always Book in Advance! All 3 sites provide advance booking in which you can book the timeslot and day you want it to arrive by without extra charges.
  2. Pay by credit card for less hassle during the handover of food.
  3. Order a wide variety & eat to your hearts content!
Do note that the earlier the timeslot you want your food delivered to your ordering time, the longer the delivery time would be so always book ahead. Also for major festive days such as Christmas or New year's eve or New years, do order your food a day or two in advance to ensure that you're not left starving on the day itself!
If you're really lazy to step out of your house and you're getting ready for a party, you can even order alcohol and have it delivered to your house!
I've yet to try this yet but when I do I'll update you with a post!
Here are some websites you can try for alcohol delivery!

That's all for today! I'll end off with some pictures from over the festive season!

CP Chicken Gyoza!

I'm a huge fan of Gyozas, Dumplings and Mandus! They are all more or less the same things with various ingredients but my favourite would have to the korean Mandu.

For today's lunch I pan fried CP Chicken Gyozas. It's pretty simple but the plattering oil may put you off. To counter that I used my mum's Happy call pan. You can check it out too. It's great fried and grilling.

Image from http://www.cpbrand.com/sg/product.aspx?pid=414

Here's the outcome of my first time pan frying these Gyozas!

I followed the instructions on the CP Packing.

1) 1 teaspoon of veg oil, place gyoza into pan and fry till bottom becomes golden brown
2) Add 1/3 cup of water and cover pan and leave for about 5mins.
3) Once all water has evaporated, remove gyozas from pan and serve!

You can have it with soy sauce or chili depending your liking.
I had mine with Japanese Soy sauce!

If you do try it out or have other reccomendations for Gyozas, tweet me @rachwongz or leave a comment!

Cheers!

Smoked Salmon Sandwich

I'm currently on the way to work now in the train and decide to do up a quick post!

I've got my breakfast packed away in my bag, screaming to get into my tummy.

For today's breakfast i prepared a very simple and ideal breakfast for a lazy person. Smoked Salmon Sandwich!

Smoked Salmon Sandwich

Bread of your choice
Pre-smoked Salmon
Cheese

1) Lay bread out and place as much Salmon on it as you like
2) Place cheese on top of Salmon
3) Toast it for 1-2 mins
4) Eat it while it's warm!

It's really simple to make. No sauce really needed cause most pre-smoked Salmon are seasoned. Though, do note that the Salmon can be pretty salty so prepare your sandwich to your preference!

I'm blogging from my phone for the first time don't know how the post will come out. Edit it when i'm home!
